The Mayans were an astrological and mathematical based society that attained great feats through their studies. The Mayan calendar far outweighs our modern calendar in accuracy and prediction and the Mayans were considered visionaries or great "seers."
Many people question the authenticity of astrology and consider it as only purely having entertainment value. I am sure the Mayan Gods would frown upon those of us who see it that way.
The base theory behind astrology is this: "The planets in the universe exert energy forces onto the earth and it's inhabitants that affect our behavior and personality traits." The Mayans firmly believed this as I am sure their ancestors still do.
To provide further evidence to this theory, the Mayans of ancient times conducted their own studies. One of which involved asking groups of women to inhabit dark caves for several months, to test the lack of exposure to the sun and moon.
"Would this have a physical effect on these women?"
Intriguingly enough, the Mayans seemed to have proven their theory to their satisfaction, thus, further enforcing their firm belief in the heaven's unseen planetary forces. For it seems that only a few short months following their seclusion, the Mayan women ceased menstruating. And it is no secret that the human females reproductive cycle is on the very same 28 day cycle as the moon.
Upon this small group of Mayan women returning to their society, and the exposure of the sun and moon, they began menstruating again and their reproductive cycles returned to normal.
"So, it seems that there is a direct correlation to the planetary forces and the earth's inhabitants."
This planetary force and it's effects can also be seen in the ocean tides here on earth as the moon's gravitational pull regulates them, cycles them, from far away in the heavens above.
Our universe is one full of mystery, awe, and wonder. Limitless possibilities. The greatest of it's miracles surely has yet to be seen.

Now, the filmmakers behind "REVELATIONS OF THE MAYANS 2012 AND BEYOND," who said that their film will reveal evidence of contact between the Mayans and extraterrestrials, have now released to media what they claim is photographic evidence of a pre-Mayan, alien civilization.
And they claim they've got Stephen Hawking on their side too.

The monument, according to an accompanying letter by archaeologist Hector E. Mejia, dates back to between 3500 and 5000 B.C. and is evidence of a superior civilization unlike any known to have lived on Earth.
Mejia described the photograph as being "of a bust which a first glance can be seen to have an elongated cranium and fine characteristics which are not consistent with pre-Hispanic races of America."
"I certify that this monument presents no characteristics of Maya, Nahuatl, Olmec or any other pre-Hispanic civilization," he wrote. "It was created by an extraordinary and superior civilization with awesome knowledge of which there is no record of existence on this planet."
The photo is one of several purported pieces of evidence that will be shown in Julia-Levy's documentary, which HE IS MAKING WITH THE COOPERATION OF THE MEXICAN AND GUATEMALAN GOVERNMENTS KEYED TO 2012, THE DATE THE MAYAN CALENDAR ENDS.
"This explains who we are," said Julia-Levy, the son of actor Raul Julia. "This explains why these big f ing monuments are all around the world."
And Julia-Levy then passed along a direct quote that, he claimed, came from no less than Stephen Hawking, who he said "is going to work with us" and will be included in his film:
"'I WARN HUMANITY THAT ALIENS ARE OUT THERE. JUST BECAUSE THE ALIENS WERE FRIENDS WITH THE MAYANS DOESN'T MEAN THEY ARE OUR FRIENDS. HUMANS SHOULD AVOID CONTACT WITH ALIENS AT ALL COSTS.'"
Hawking has in the past said that that alien life is likely to exist in the universe ("to my mathematical brain, the numbers alone make thinking about aliens perfectly natural"), and has speculated about the dangers of contact.
"If aliens ever visit us," Hawking has said, "I think the outcome would be much as when Christopher Columbus first landed in America, which didn't turn out very well for the Native Americans."
Julia-Levy also claimed government conspiracies surrounding the photo, and the head it depicts: After the photo was taken in the late 1930s, he said, it was only published once, in a magazine that was then immediately withdrawn from circulation by "the government of England."
He also said the head depicted in the photo, 17 meters (51 feet) tall and six meters wide, is no longer in the Guatemalan jungle but has been moved to the United States and hidden.
"I was informed by officials in the government of Guatemala that the U.S. government brought it here," he said.
According to Meija, "The creative style is not consistent with the civilizations that inhabited the southern coast of Guatemala prior to the arrival of the Spaniards... It is indisputably pre-Olmec and pre-Maya... [O]ne can assign an age between 3500 and 5000 BC."
Mejia is a licensed archaeologist affiliated with the Atlas Arqueological de Guatemala and the Institute of Anthropology and History in Guatemala, and with the University of San Carlos.
Mejia goes on to compare it to other monuments, including "the Moais of Easter Island, the Pascual Abaj monument... in Guatemala" and "the Great Sphinx in Egypt." He said it was "created by an extraordinary and superior civilization" that "settled in the south of Guatemala and from there shone its light and knowledge on the hunter gatherers who were its first students and received its teachings."
Julia-Levy (right) said that Mejia is part of an international team of archaeologists and other professionals assembled by the filmmakers because they are "willing to tell the world the truth" about the Mayan/alien connection.
"We have a gang of archaeologists and scholars and scientists that are going to come forward and show everything they have," he said.
And, he swears, governments will do the same.
"I was told by the officials that the Mayans and the extra-terrestrials had a history of exchange," he said. "This is official. This is as official as it can get."
Added Julia-Levy, "The world hasn't seen this. Nobody has seen this. But there's no doubt in my mind that the world is ready fo the truth.
"This is going to create a worldwide impact in how people see things."

In September, we published a story about a documentary that will be released in 2012 titled "Revelations of the Mayans 2012 and Beyond". The filmmakers claim this documentary will provide evidence that the Mayans had contact with extraterrestrials.
There is a new development with this story.
According to an article published by "The Wrap" today, the filmmakers have released a photograph they claim is "evidence of a pre-Mayan, alien civilization." The film's producer, Raul Julia-Levy, released the photo to "The Wrap", which shows a large, carved head in the jungle that was allegedly taken in southern Guatemala in the 1930s.
A letter from archaeologist Hector E. Mejia reportedly accompanied the photo. Mejia claims the head sculpture in the photo "dates back to between 3500 and 5000 B.C. and is evidence of a superior civilization unlike any known to have lived on Earth." He points out that the "elongated cranium" and "fine characteristics" of the sculpture are not consistent with pre-Hispanic races of America, and therefore must have been "created by an extraordinary and superior civilization with awesome knowledge of which there is no record of existence on this planet."
Julia-Levy claims that this photo is just one of several pieces of "evidence" that will be presented in the film.
And Julia-Levy also claims that Stephen Hawking is participating in his film. The filmmaker provided"The Wrap" with a quote he claims is from Hawking that will be used in the film. Hawking allegedy stated, "I warn humanity that aliens are out there. Just because the aliens were friends with the Mayans doesn't mean they are our friends. Humans should avoid contact with aliens at all costs." This statement is reminiscent of Hawking's grim statements from 2010, cautioning humanity against attempting to contact extraterrestrials.
"Revelations of the Mayans 2012" and Beyond is scheduled to begin filming in November.

In late September the producers of the documentary "Revelations of the Mayans 2012 and Beyond," currently in production, made sensational claims that the film will reveal evidence in the possession of the Mexican government that the ancient Maya civilization had contact with extraterrestrials. The story was fed by one of the producers, Raul Julia-Levy, son of the late film actor Raul Julia, to Steve Pond at "TheWrap", an online entertainment media outlet which covers Hollywood.

This followed similar releases in August mentioning the Mexican government would cooperate with the producers and allow them to film in previously restricted archaeological sites, but stopped short of mentioning alien contact. The film is said to start shooting next November 15 at the Mayan site of Calakmul in Campeche.
"TheWrap"s main source for the ET revelations was Luis Augusto Garca Rosado, the minister of tourism in the Mexican state of Campeche in Yucatans Mayan Riviera. Rosado was quoted saying that new evidence has emerged "of contact between the Mayans and extraterrestrials, supported by translations of certain codices, which the government has kept secure in underground vaults for some time." He added there were also "landing pads that are 3,000 years old. TheWrap" also quoted Guillermo Novielli Quezada, Guatemalas minister of tourism, stating that, "Guatemala, like Mexico, home to the ancient yet advanced Mayan civilization has also kept certain provocative archeological discoveries classified, and now believes that it is time to bring forth this information in the new documentary." Noviellis exact title is Director of Inguat, the Guatemalan Institute of Tourism. Guatemala is a major site of Mayan ruins, which are also spread throughout Yucatan, Honduras and Belize.

Image credit: TheWrapProducer Julia-Levy made a sensational statement of his own, saying the Mayans had intended to lead the planet for thousands of years, but were forced to escape after an invasion by "men of dark intentions," adding that "the Mexican government is not making this statement on their owneverything we say, were going to back it up." What this means exactly historically speaking is not clear. Was Julia referring to the mysterious collapse of the classic Maya civilization around 900 A.D.? And if so, who were the "men of dark intentions"? This crucial event, when all the major Mayan cities were abandoned, is still not fully understood by historians and archaeologists, although its only the political system that crumbled, the people remained and are still there to this day. DISCLOSURE OR PR HYPE?
After conducting a thorough search of Mexican websites, including government and academic institutions dealing with Mayan studies, media and UFO bloggers, I could find no independent confirmation of Garca Rosados statements other than plain Spanish translations of the s published by "TheWrap". It seems to me that this story has much more to do with PR hype by the film producers and by Mexican authorities wishing to promote tourism in the wake of mounting expectations about the end of the Mayan calendar in December 2012, than to a real program of disclosure. What we know for sure is that the documentary "Revelations of the Mayans 2012 and Beyond," produced by Julia-Levy and Ed Elbert and directed by Juan Carlos Rulfo, is sponsored by the Mexican Ministry of Tourisms Mundo Maya Mayan World Program, although its financing comes from American sources. The Mayan World program is an elaborate public relations campaign to promote tourism and development in the Mayan Riviera region, which was officially launched at a ceremony on June 21 attended by President Felipe Caldern, the Secretary of Tourism, Gloria Guevara Manzo, and other officials at the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City. The governors of the states of Quintana Roo, Yucatan, Tabasco, Chiapas and Campeche, where Mayan sites are located, participated via links from their respective capitals.
In his speech, President Caldern announced he was "officially launching the Mayan World 2012 Program, which is a significant effort looking to give an unprecedented touristic boost to the states in the countrys southeast, where this impressive civilization was based... the Mayas are, without doubt, one of the most splendid cultures not only in this continent but in mankind, comparable to majestic and millenary civilizations like those of Egypt and China. The Mayas have marveled the entire world by, among other things, the precision of their astronomical observations, the exactness of their calendars, the high development of mathematics which led them to invent the concept of zero; by their art, their architecture, their cosmogony and their traditions."

Image credit: www.yucatanadventure.com.mxCaldern went on to sketch several aspects of the Maya civilization, including the famous lid covering the tomb of King Pacal in Palenque, which Erich von Dniken and other ancient astronaut proponents have presented as evidence of alien visitation the president didnt mention that; as well as "the stela number 6" in the Mayan ruins of El Tortuguero in Tabasco, which "describe precisely the cycle which we are living and which ends precisely in December of 2012." Although the president referred several times to the 2012 date, he made perfectly clear what was "the fundamental purpose of the Maya World Program." It is, he said, "an integral strategy that will highlight the tourist centers near Mayan archaeological zones, developing new cultural offers and a better infrastructure. The goal is very clear: to give an exceptional experience to attract the largest possible amount of tourists and explode the touristic potential of the region. The Maya World Program means more jobs and more development for families." This strategy also includes "opening to the public new archaeological zones" and restoring others in Comalcalco, Calakmul, etc.
The program will include "organizing events from today until the end of 2012, including international exhibits, conferences and meetings with specialists and investigators from all over the world. We will present the magic of the Mayas to the whole world." He then went on to say that "we know of many people who have moved to Yucatan state, for instance, to wait precisely for this end of an epoch, which has been given many interpretations. While President Felipe Caldern and other Mexican officials are riding the 2012 wave for its great tourism potential, it seems that only the Minister of Tourism of Campeche, Luis Alberto Garca Rosado, has gone out on a limb linking 2012 with ET revelations. Garcas background is clearly in business as outlined in the short bio in the official website of the government of Campeche state: "Luis Alberto Garca Rosado has a degree in business administration with the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, Monterrey campus; with studies for a Masters on Social and Organization Psychology at the School of Economics and Political Sciences in London. In the private sector, he was the founder, manager and advisor of several businesses linked to the areas of hotels, tourism and automobiles. He is the founder and was the president of the Association of Young Entrepreneurs of Carmelita."

Image credit: government of CampecheA Mexican media website, TVRadioRiviera.com, reports that Garca Rosado was appointed Minister of Tourism by Campeche governor Fernando Ortega Berns in September of 2009 because of "his drive, preparation and compromise with industry in a state with a wide potential in this [tourism] field." That is so far what we have been able to find about Mr. Garca Rosado. He seems like a fairly young, business-oriented maverick who is willing to bet on the 2012 card as a way to bring business and improve conditions in his state. Other than his statements quoted in TheWrap, which were translated and published in many Mexican media sites and blogs, we found no other, independent similar quotes from Minister Garca. The fact that he didnt deny or retract the statements to TheWrap means that he was most likely quoted accurately.
In Part 2, well discuss the comments by the director of the documentary, Juan Carlos Rulfo, about the Mayan prophecies and the secrets kept by the Mexican government; as well as official statements by Mexican archaeologists regarding 2012.

Reuters reported this week that archaeologists working in deep in Guatemala's northern jungle have unearthed incredible carved panels that are believed to depict scenes from Mayan creation myths involving monsters, serpents and deities. The panels were discovered on the site of El-Mirador, the largest known Mayan city in the world which is constantly being excavated revealing more surprises. The city itself is remarkable in that it contained the complex roads, canals and impressive structures one would expect of a modern metropolis. The sites head researcher Richard Hansen has dated the panels to around 300 BC
As expected there was no mention of aliens or UFOs in relation to the find. Ufologists have been concentrating in particular on Mayan civilization and mythology for decades, probably more so than any other ancient civilisation. Its astronomy and myths of immortal beings arriving from the stars to give humans knowledge are well known.
Ufologists are now marvelling at the latest images of Mayan mythology carved in stone. Many have already noted that the panel shown on the Reuters website clearly depicts a UFO surrounded by two non-human beings covered in some form of technological equipment.
Interestingly the date range given for the carvings puts their creation not long after Ezekiel's graphic descriptions of wheels within wheels. To say that the similarity to Ezekiel's wheels and 'living creatures' is striking might be putting it mildly.
I don't think the proof of the theory that civilizations were once guided by alien visitors could get any stronger. The only question is when will our friends from space openly return and give us some guidance, possibly more needed now than then.

But a chapter in a new textbook "Calendars and Years II: Astronomy and Time in the Ancient and Medieval World" (Oxbow Books, 2010) could throw off all those ominously titled Discovery Channel specials. THE TZOLKIN: A RELIGIOUS TIME KEEPER Wisdom Quarterly (COMMENTARY)The "Tzolkin" ("sacred") Synchronary was not a calendar as such. It used a 260-day cycle and was in use throughout Mesoamerica, not only by the Maya. The sky-gods (Buddhist, AKASHA-DEVAS and/or ASURAS) provided it. The Maya's startlingly advanced society -- just like that of the Khmer empire in Southeast Asia (and that of the Mesoamerican Olmecs, Toltecs, and Aztecs) -- was consumed by Reptilians (Buddhist, NAGAS). The "Tzolkin" may be the oldest "calendar" in the Mayan system of calendars and may have been the more important. EDGAR CAYCE ON 2012
To the most famous American psychic of all time, the year 2012 is only the arrival of a New Age, according to Kevin Todeschi, executive director and CEO of Edgar Cayce's A.R.E.
The New World Order is not about the supremacy of some nations over others. Instead, it is about a new focus for the world as a whole. We are caretakers of one another. Cayce's readings describe that responsibility in this way:
